Re: C2 427 POR-15 on the exhaust manifolds
I've used Eastwood's manifold coating on several sets and it looks good and stays on for a long time. I apply it thin with a foam brush and then bake it in an outdoor oven (don't use your wife's) and they come out very nice. I don't like POR at all, mainly because of what was done on my car with POR products prior to my purchasing, all of which I had to remove or redo. There is also a spray-on product (Jet-Spray?) from somewhere in Texas that is supposed to give a nice finish. Jerry MacNeish also offers exh manifold coating. HTH

Re: C2 427 POR-15 on the exhaust manifolds
I have used POR-15 on my C2 327 and the manifolds came out GREAT. I originally had the Eastwood finish on them but eventually blasted that off and used the POR because it had a little more "natural cast" look. The eastwood stuff just looked too much like paint to me.- Top

Re: C2 427 POR-15 on the exhaust manifolds
No experience with POR 15 Exhaust Manifold paint but I have used Eastwood's Stainless Steel paint. After a light sand blasting to clean up the manifolds, I put on a thin coat and let it dry. A second very thin coat just to ensure that it was complete. I put them on the car and fired it up. A fairly moderate amount of smoke came off of them and they lasted for three or four years, at which time I sold the car.
Oth, NO ONE will ever assume that this is an original look. They WILL look painted, even if you do a fabulous job. It depends on what your desired outcome is. If you want a factory original look, try Jerry McNeish's finishing system, which looks great in photos. Or you can search the archives for PreLube 6 "testimonials". I now use PreLube 6 spray on any exposed metal and it works well.
If you are looking for nice manifolds, without the factory look, then paint them with your favorite paint, Eastwood, POR, or other.

Tony------
The POR products will work well PROVIDING that what you're after is corrosion protection and NOT original appearance. To my eye, a POR-15 coated manifold does not look like an original finish, at all. It goes on way too "thick" and "smooth" to be mistaken for the original cast iron finish. It's very hard to remove, too, if you decide you don't like it.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Tony:
It appears you have been detaling your engine bay. How do aersol can paints compare to he use of spray gun paints? Will chev orange from aersol can be as permanent as spray application. Iam looking at Eastwood and Quanta paint products. Any advice will be apprciated! tom- Top
