I have a can of Eastwood's Argent Silver Wheel paint and a can of PPG 69 GM DAR8568 silver paint. In normal lighting they both just look silver; no green tint. In direct sunlight the PPG paint has sparkles of green, but I don't think it is correct. Where can I get the correct paint?
Back when I worked for RM Paint we had a formula for the wheel colors. If you could find a paint supplier thats been around for a while I'm sure they could make up a pint for you.
Was this a specific rally wheel paint with the green hue for the 68-70 or so era or was it the basic argent rally wheel paint that is commonly used for all other chevy rallys?.
The formula was specific to GM rally wheels. The codes would be listed on the backs of the paint chip charts. The shop then mixed the color based on that code. I cannot say this was the one with the green cast but it was a formula designed to match the color so I would believe it would. You should be able to check the formula for blue and yellow tints to get an idea. If you ( or your jobber) has the formula then they can adjust it for the color you need. Many jobbers can also make up spray cans for you too.
