I have a customer with a C-2 that is insisting I put electronic ingnition in but he wants to judge the car. What kind of a hit is he going to take with this setup? He is driving it from Miami to San Antonio for judging at the National Convention.

Depends what kind of system you're talking about. If it's a drop-in replacement module arrangement like Pertronix, Crane, Breakerless SE, etc. that uses the stock/correct distributor and cap and coil, he'd get a deduction for the missing parts (points and condenser) if the adjusting window is opened. The distributor, cap, and vacuum advance carries 15 originality points, so I'd think the deduction would be less than 5 points. I'm sure others will comment.- Top

I'm told that rascel will just whip out his tool..
(slotted screw driver of course )and will pop the cap off if it doesn't open. He does the same thing with bottled beast. That guy is a shameless example of everything I want to be when I grow up.- Top
