Can't ID This Stick!

Any camshaft experts out there? I have a cam with the following numbers cast beteen the lobes: "GM22", "K2", "2182". There is also an orange identifyer stripe just forward of the distributor drive gear. There are no numbers stamped on either end. What is it???

The "GM22" is a mold number and of no particular import in identifying the camshaft. I think that "2182" number on this camshaft MAY be the casting symbol for the core used to manufacture the GM #3972178 camshaft. This was the 70-72 LT-1 camshaft. I'll have to check on this later. Also, sometimes camshaft cores are used to manufacture more than one finished camshaft. So, the core number isn't always a positve identifier.

I just confirmed what I "guessed" earlier. The "2182" camshaft casting number was used for the GM #3972178 camshaft. This was the 70-72 LT-1 camshaft. Also, however, and as I mentioned earlier, it is POSSIBLE that this casting was used for other camshafts. However, if it was, I don't expect that it was used for many other different configurations and I fully expect that the 3972178 was, by far, the most common one ground from that core.
