I suggest you heat the aluminum with a hot air gun before you try to back it out. Also soak the bolt. Terry

They are missing the point, it is corroded

I've been watching this, Greg, and I knew what you were saying. I've seen this happen frequently. Sometimes the heat on the intake and ice on the bolt will begin to separate, but most I have ended up drilling out.

If you have the intake off, or are very steady, you can drill a very small hole through the bolt. This lets you drip in rust penetrating oil so it can work its way up from the bottom. Usually the top is corroded, and thus sealed, as it is the side exposed to the elements.

      Dissimilar metals, people, remember that?

In most of mine, I either apply a coating of anti-seize with NEW bolts or, on ones I have to change often, I have installed studs and used a nut and washer to hold the housing on.

Mike..I received a box of the micro mesh from your friend at the Kissimmee show.

I will try it on a portion of the Nassau/Daytona car's gold paint.

Do you know if Paul Goldsmith still has the horse farm in Ocala?

I don't know, but I'll see if I can find out.

Since you didn't call, I assumed you made other plans and had a safe trip back.

            Kissimmee

Mike..I appreciated the offer and hope to see you in Ocala in the future. I decided not to go to D.C that weekend.

I drove past Ocala on the long journey home.

On Saturday..I went over to see Bill Tower and his collection ..wow! The show was great, the people were great and I had a terriffic time.

I think the bolt is a 5/16-18 get a easy out from Hardware store for size of bolt drill proper hole for it insert easy out will tighten in CC direction then heat area with a propane torch while trying to turn bolt when you hit right temp it will start backing out Heat is the Key. I use Oxy Acet but you have to be careful you will melt the Alu. Propane is slower but safer. if it is on car make sure you drain coolant otherwise it will never heat up.
