I put my body back on my 66 Convetible. While I had the body off, I had the frame straigtened. It was mostly diamond from torq twist. But it was off other places. It is straight now. I belive the body was off before and shims were adjusted to the bent frame. I put the same amount of shims that was on it and nothing works. So How do I start from scratch. My shims I took off Drivers side #1-0 #2-5 #3-5 rear #4-0 Passenger side #1-2 #2-6 #3-5 #4-2 Does this sound normal?
How do I start from sratch to figue out how to do this?
I would start with the center mounts with all equal now that the frame is straight and see how the outer mounts line up. This is what I had to do with a '63 coupe after straightening the frame.
Be sure to check under the body that nothing is hitting, like brackets and such. I had a couple of brackets like the seat belt and the parking brake lever bracket hitting the body so I had to shim up so they didn't hit. Otherwise, I would use the least necessary to clear everything.
After that, I would then insert the outer shims to bring the doors into alignment. On a coupe, this wasn't necessary, but I had to do that on a '68 convertible on the rear.
Support the chassis as it will run, that is either on its tires or on jackstands placed at the tire location, not on the frame and especially not under the cneter section of the frame.
