    Help with NICB?

I'm trying to identify the original selling dealership for Jan Berry's 1966 coupe that he crashed on April 12, 1966.

I'm working with his biographer, Mark Moore. He has the cooperation of the Berry family and Jan's financial records from that period. These records include the VIN. However, I've lost my contact who had access to the National Insurance Crime Bureau database for initial shipping destinations.

Can anyone give me some help with this? My e-mail address is jerrybramlett@comcast.net, and my secret phone number in Mobile, AL is (251) 478-4003.

I can't help, Jerry, but I wish you the best of luck.

Maybe if you have success and it works out, the NICB will see that we aren't out to steal people's privacy or use it for not-so-nice thing, but only to do historical research.

jerry: it's becomming increasingly more difficult to have a law enforcement officer in my neck of the woods to do a NICB search. seems the cops have to have a good reason to initiate the search. good luck, mike

My Brother is a homicide detective and he has several contacts at the NICB, who get him information on stolen, cars etc. He won't get any info for me, because he has to lie on the paperwork necessary to get it.

          Re: Help with NICB?

          Jerry,

When I was VP if NCRS we tried as an organization to set up something with NICB but our letters and phone calls were to no avail. We told them the members would be willing to pay a fee for the information and they were not interested in revealing any information or assisting our members.

On another note, as a retired detective myself, I have used NICB for information, but was long before I retired and it wasn't as strict back then. Since the inception of the computer and electronics age in most departments it's too easy to track who is making the calls and you better have a case number attached to an actual investigation if you call them. As Patrick noted above, I can't get any of my old buddies to get the info for me. It's just not worth putting your job or retirement in jeopardy. Best of Luck in your search.

The real dead mans curve, not the one Berry crashed at.
