Just finished installing all my radio shielding pieces to my '63. It seems that the large Upper Distributer is in the way of the powerglide oil tube and dipstick. I recall when we first fired up the 327, a lot of oil exited the lower Tube area. At the time, we noted that the angle of the tube into the tranny may be somehow wrong? Now, with the upper Shield not fitting very well, I wonder what the problem might be. Should the dipstick pull be behind or ahead of the upper shielding. The way mine is now....it is behind the Upper Shield and just ahead of the Body fire wall (If and when I ever get the Body back on). I plan to drop the body back on tomorrow so I need to know soon. Thanks, Arne ......ps. I noticed that the main bracket that supports the Tube to the tranny was very rough looking and may not have been a factory weld/bracked. Did these brackets have a history of breaking off....thus allowing for a poor fix which might result in a changed angle of Tube tranny entry as well as faulty upper engine location?

Re: Powerglide Tube Location
Ok, so its been a few hours since I posted the question. Couple of good books and a cup of coffee. The Dip/Tube HAS TO go to the engine side of the Distributer shielding. The previous owner must not have used the shielding because there was no way the Shield could mount correctly and have the Dip Tube on the correct side. So....after little bending (swearing) all is ok. The leak at the tranny tube connection also seems to have stopped now that everything is in better line.- Top
