Randy, Unless you want to roll out of bed and onto the swap field, there are many hotel rooms available in surroundung cities and towns. Last year we flew from FL into Baltimore (cheaper), rented a car, drove to and stayed in York,PA (right next to the Harley-Davidson factory!) and drove 1 hour each way to Carlisle. It wasn't as strenuous as it sounds and we saved quite a bit of money because of the location of the airport and hotel.

There are lots of good hotels within striking distance. Harrisburg is a good choice too. Look on Expedia.com. Often times they have hotel deals that are cheaper than the hotels can price themselves. You might get lucky in Carlisle but most hotels there are marginal flophouses normally occupied by transient truckers. Check the Baymont in Harrisburg(includes free breakfast and is across from a Harbor Freight retail outlet). It is relatively new and very clean. Also, the Radisson in Camp Hill on the west side of the Susquehanna river is a nice hotel at a reasonable rate. Both are less than 45 minutes away depending on show traffic the last two or so miles to the fairgrounds.

          See you there!

          Mike

Check for a hotel in south Harrisburg just off the turnpike. There is a turnpike exit near the Carslisle fairgrounds, maybe 30 minutes total.

Thanks all for the tips. I got a place in Harrisburg. First timer!!

I had reservations last year and broke my arm.
