    Re: Car prices from 1977

I bought my first Corvette during the '77 model year... a 1965 4 sp roadster with a 396. Needed paint, no real damage (I put a nice black paint job on it), black interior.

    $2500.

This was a reasonable price range for the "driver" mid years of the day.

Incidentally, it's interesting that the one ad referred to 'no more convertibles' being made... when I bought my '65 roadster, all anyone was interested in was coupes, coupes, coupes. Interesting how things change.

Still alot of money back in those days considering the cars were 11 years old and taking into account what their selling price was brand new.

Bought my 1958 Corvette Dual Quad 270HP for $600.00 Oct of 69. A neighbor of ours bought a 67 427/435 roadster in 1977 for $4500.00 These were old used cars not B-jackson investment IRA's.

Re: Car prices from 1977 - changing rapidly

The prices in the beginning of '77 were different from the end of '77. By the end, the '78s were coming out, lots of hype over investment cars had started, news of the collectible limited edition Corvette for '78, and so on.

I paid high on my 68 at $3100 in January but within a couple of months, most were in the $3500 to $4000 range if they were in decent shape.
