For my, week 1 in Jan. 65 built car, 350HP with a radio car. I am trying to determine if the ignition shielding for the top of the Distributor is correct. For what it's worth, it looks similar to the picture in the Paragon Catalog. How do the repo. kits compare? It has 1 opaque/nylon rivet and one black plastic rivet, both on top. This shield has only one grounding clip held on by 2 rivets. It looks like a piece is missing from this clip on it's bottom where there are 4 indents/crimps, about 3/16" apart. There are no signs of any other clip ever having been physically attached to this top. On the opposite side of the front clip, there is on the bottom a FI and a CARB, with a 1/4" rectangular slot punched through the shield for a clip to enter/exit. This is the side where there appears to be no clip ever attached, or was it not physically attached to the top, just through one of these slots? Is the clip a separate clip altogether? How was it attached??? The JG mentions grounding clips on both the front and rear. JG mentions the clip attaching through one of these slots grounding to the tach cable. Did early cars not have this second clip? Early 65 top distributor shield pictures would help me out. Thanks Dick Gutman

Re: Ignition shield??
All cars with radio had the second clip. For a carbureted car, the clip is snapped into the "carb" holes. '65 top shield has inner insulator retained by two "opaque" natural color (milky white) plastic rivits.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: Ignition shield??
Bill: Since my top shield has this Black plastic rivet along with the Opaque rivet, what other year/application may it be. Or, could the black have been installed later in its life by a previous owner? Is this second clip physically attached to the top by rivet/s, or is it a separate piece altogether and only attached by running it through the slot? Looks like I will need to order the shield kit from Paragon. Thanks Dick Gutman- Top
