Does the under dash wire harness run above or below the support rod brace near the defrost duct?

Harness is above the brace on my car.

Isn't there supposed to be insulation glued to the firewall. There is on a '67. Can't vouch for a 63, but now would be the time to install it

Yes there is and it has a black asphalt type covering and it is installed just below the view you are looking at.

Ray, the stuff I am talking about is "glued on" insulation above the black stuff. It has no "backing" just insulation. Its right under the windshield opening and above the heater housing. maybe it was used in later years. Mine is a '67.

The upper cowl plenum insulation looks like this (heater box was a test fit - main dash mat/insulator not installed yet).
