    C- 2, K-19 check valve restoration

    Does some one have a recomendation for the rebuilding and restoration of my 5361992 and "Y" K-19 check valves. Thank you in advance. Dale

    I don't think that these check valves can be rebuilt. However, they can be re-finished. They can be easily tested, though, by blowing through them in each direction. From the threaded end, there should be no passage of air. From the hose end, air should pass freely.

    In a functioning AIR system, these valve MUST work properly. Failure of the valve to prevent backflow (which is the failure mode of these valves) will result in the destruction of the diverter valve and/or pump.

          Zinc plated with a dischromate (gold) overplate. Original valves of the period had a more-or-less "dull gold", "satin finish". Later examples of SERVICE valves were a MUCH brighter gold and VERY shiny.
