    Dust shields and glue C2?

    Hi all,

I have dust shields that were glued in place (no staples) on my 66 SB by a prior owner. What would be a good/safe process for removal of the shields/glue so as not to cause any damage to the inner fenders etc.? Thanks in advance for suggestions.

BTW - got my new maintenance free/resto battery from Antique Auto Battery and it's looks awesome. Thanks to those who suggested them.

doubt that you'll injure the fiberglass inner skirts when removing the glued on shields. give em a rip.If Bubba used Gorilla glue, borrow a gorilla from the local zoo to remove the shields. .mike

You'll find 3M offers a general purpose adhesive remover product intended to get weatherstripping and side molding parts off that works pretty darn good with most ordinary adhesive products. See your local auto parts store or auto paint distributor...

        Mike and Jack,

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll go with a combo of Jack's 3M and Mike's Gorilla idea. The best of both worlds - Braun and Brains.

            FYI:

Be careful on any chemical petroleum based products.... test all surfaces in a small spot before general use, keep away from all painted surfaces!!!!!!

            Regards,

The 3M product does not effect either plastic or paint( 08984 General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner) It removed the 30 year old yellow death adhesive from my C-2 door jams. Did not efeect the paint. D/

                  Rob,
If you live near Detroit, you could get the gorila pretty cheap because they are going to close the zoo. I don't know their return policy though.
