It's a pretty obvious difference Mike. One can spot the difference from 15 feet away without even getting in the car. The colors are much different on the early high redline tach. The low redline tach had the yellow/orange colors from the start of 63 production while the high redline tach had the red/maroon colors. The 2nd design high redline tach used the same yellow/orange colors that the low redline had.
Would be great if we could get someone to photograph an original of each style, if there are actually any left. If anyone can send me pic's of both color styles, I'll post them.
This was the exact same deal as the 67 tach colors when speed alert was included. The redline colors were different than those of non speed alert cluster assy's. I mentioned this about a year ago on this board but I guess everyone thought I was dreaming. I have no logical explanation as to why these colors change with speed alert but it's real.
