    GM Reissue Oil Pan Fit?

    Gentlemen:

How close is the GM reissue oil pan to the original as fitted to '57-'62 Corvettes? Is it the best available option next to the real thing regarding profile, dipstick calibration, stock oil pump suction tube fit, suspension clearance, etc? My car is a '61.

    Any alternative suggestions are welcome.

    Thank you,
    Mike

I've had one, keep the original tucked away, on my 62 for two years now. As far as I know it is the only available option that is close to looking original. Some dealers don't want to mess with these new restoration parts, therefore charge you list or more for them. If you can't get a descent discount, e-mail me and we'll discuss pricing, our local dealer gives me employee discount.

I got mine from "GMpartsdirect.com" delivered to my door for $130. Comes with a gasket set and drain plug. Fits great.

I used one on my '57 ten years ago (couldn't save the old one), and it worked fine - fit perfectly (with the "thick" front seal that came with it), never leaked a drop.

Just want to say that about a year ago GM sold the last of these pans. They were all gone. Fortunately they produced a bunch more!

            Chris -

If I remember correctly, the one I bought ten years ago had a "Made in Canada" sticker on it, and was very nicely E-coated.

              Yep, still the same.
