    62 order of assembly

    I'm replacing the carpet in my 62. As I removed the old carpet, I noticed that the seat attaching bolts (in the front of the rails) were under the carpet. Looking at the AIM the carpet appears to be installed first and then the seats at a later stage. So in this assembly order should not the seat rails sit on top of the carpet and be bolted through the carpet? Or should the carpet stop before the seat rails and bolts? All help will be appreciated.

    Also just a thought; does the order of the AIM indicate the order of the cars assembly?

    Thanks in Advance
    Bill

      Re: 62 order of assembly

      Bill -

      The order of things in the AIM has no relationship to the sequence of the assembly process; it's organized by Engineering UPC (Uniform Parts Classification) Group, which mirrors the assignment of parts in the Engineering releasing system:

      1 = Body, Body Trim & Hardware
      2 = Frame
      3 = Front Suspension
      4 = Rear Suspension & Driveline
      5 = Brakes
      6 = Engine
      7 = Transmission & Clutch
      8 = Fuel & Exhaust
      9 = Steering
      10 = Wheels & Tires
      11/13 = Front Sheet Metal and Cooling]
      12 = Electrical
      14 = Bumpers & Miscellaneous
