More fastener finish questions for 1969

I'll try and explain this the best that I can...

The three radiator grills are supported by four black brackets, two of which also are for the front turn signals. What is the proper finish of the screws and "U" shaped nuts that slide onto these brackets that attach the grills to these brackets?

I understand that the outer brackets were installed before the body was painted but does this also hold true for the two inner ones near the license plate?

The four side marker lights have a bracket on their back side to hold it to the body. What is the proper finish for these brackets and the two stamped nuts that are used to hold the bracket against the body?

    greg-----

The screws for the grille-to-bracket fastening are black phospahte finished. The "J" nuts were phosphate or black oxide finished.

I don't know if the inner brackets were in place, or not, when the painting was done. However, there are no externally visible bolts (which are car color painted) for these inner brackets, so I see it as kind of a moot point. However, the inner brackets on my car were black and had no significant amount, if any at all, of car color paint on them.

The side marker light rear brackets are semi-flat black. I don't recall the finish of the retaining speed nuts.
