Group, i have a 1971 LT1 with 64k on the original M21 CR trans. All is well for the first 15 minutes until the oil is warmed up. At that point the trans has a hard time up or down shifting to 3rd gear. It is kind of a grinding feel. I have changed the fluid but no difference. The trans shifts perfect for the first 15 minutes or so. Sounds like a rebuild, syncro or?
Joe, i am quite mechanical but have never torn into a trans. Is this worth fixing by itself or should i have the whole trans rebuilt. Would it cause more damage if i waited to fix it.
Thanks Frank
Frank there is a article with pictures on how to rebuild the 63-79 Muncie in the May 2006 issue of Corvette Enthusiast you might look at to see if you want to try fixing it yourself.
