Im replacing my interior door panels on my 1960. When i removed my old panels missing were the window crank handle foam seals and the window crank spacer springs. My question is were do these springs go. Do they fit behind the door panel into the foam seal, or do they go in front of the panel behind the crank spacer and window crank. If they go behind the panel do they pertrude through the panel, or do they just push on the back of the panel. Any help would be grately apprecated. Thanks

Re: C1 Door Panel Window Crank Spacer Spring
I'm mixed up about a "foam seal". Don't remember such a beast. The spring goes between the fiberglass door and the back of the door panel. Its purpose is to push the door panel tight aginst the crank. The crank uses a cream colored plastic between the panel and the crank itself. The crank has a GM part number on the underside instead of "Tiwan" so often seen on the judging field today! Bring me up to date about the foam seal if you can.

Re: C1 Door Panel Window Crank Spacer Spring
Dale, Thanks for the info on the spacer spring. This foam seal actually looks like its made of a soft rubber, and is a cup shape. It has a hole in the center so its slides over the door window crank. The cupped sides must hold the spring in place so it does not slide when attaching the panel to the door. The seal is probability about 1/2 inch high on the sides and hollow in the center.- Top

Re: C1 Door Panel Window Crank Spacer Spring
Good for you John! You hit the nail on the head. Sheet 10.00, section "F"of the AIM, (page B58) shows that rascal! Its part number 3717676, "seal". It's also on page B94, section 6, sheet 4.00. It almost looks like a round spring seat or plate was also used although no part number appears. Is that part of the seal? Must be. One end of the spring sits on the plate while the other end rests on the trim panel. Looks like the spring goes through the inner door panel.
Are we sure this seal is foam rubber and not a harder variety? I haven't had a firewall seal in my hands for years and I don't think I've ever seen that seal in a door!
Thanks again!

Re: C1 Door Panel Window Crank Spacer Spring
Dale, when I did my '58 I got a set of these from one of the Corvette houses. They are a soft foam material, it's pretty tough stuff. They seemed to work well. BTW thanks for the response regarding C1 wheels.- Top
