To make a long story short; I am at the stage of installing the new brake shoe assemblies on all four wheels on my '63 SWC restoration. My problem is that the pictures I took of the old assembly didn't turn out very good and my Shop Manual, my AIM manual and a few other miscellaneous manuals do not show a very detailed, exploded, view of how they go together (like for carbs or transmissions). Could someone recommend a manual, an article from a magazine or something?
I went in the garage and took a bunch of photos of my front brake assemblies which are off and patiently awaiting restoration. If you look them over you should be able to see how the fronts go together. If these help, I will try to get the same sort of photo series of the trailing arm brake assembly also. Good Luck, Shane
Shane --- Great photos. Dang !, just got to get me one of those digital cameras; they're really neat for detail questions and fast response on this NDB.
My car is a '64 conv. I will take some photos of the rear brakes and post them as soon as I can, but it may take a day or two before I can get my trailing arms out from where I stored them. Sorry for the delay. Shane
I'm just happy that I could actually help someone on the board instead of asking questions all the time. I found that the photo postings really help me explain things better when I am asking too. My '64 L75 conv. is in more than 563 seperate pieces right now (bagged tagged and cataloged) so if you need a photo of anything feel free to ask as parts are pretty easy to photograph when they aren't bolted to anything. I was actually thinking about getting a digital photo of each part before I bolt it back on and assembling them into a browseable web directory and burn them onto a cd. It might be cool documentation for a future owner. Problem is if I start that project I may never get the car done.
Shane, As of now, I do not need anymore pictures. I think your idea of a CD would be great. I too have 'most' of my parts bagged and tagged. But, what I noticed was that when I started this resto, I did not take enough pictures!! Not really just enough pictures but, not enough of the right pictures (e.g. brake shoe asssembly)! The only thing I have left to remove is the right door glass assembly, some interior trim and the interior wiring harness. So, I am making sure that I take picutes during every step.
I will be installing the brake shoes tomorrow and will be using your pictures.
Yes, it does feel good to be able to help someone on this BB. I feel like I do 50% asking questons, 49% reading of other great stuff and 1% helping.
