    T10 1-C

I was looking at an early '62 T10 and on one of the side cover bolts is a rectangular tag with a large "L" stamped on it. Was does this mean? This trans. was assy. 6-26-61.

    Dave--
I'm guessing that it was actually reverse-stamped, so that the letter was raised. L on a tag, as well as a J or an M indicate that that tranny was installed in a Corvette (1962) with a 2.20 low, 1.66 second gear, 1.31 third, and 1-1 fourth. That's a close ratio, obviously.
Interestingly, according to TSB DR#537, there was also a close ratio installed in Corvettes that was 2.20, 1.64, 1.51, and 1-1. Those were indicated by a BB CC or DD code on that tag.
Now, aren't you glad you asked? Grab the tag if you can, even if you can't get the tranny.

Mike, I did grab the tranny. It is going into my '62. It is the wrong gear ratio's for it's orginal 250 hp. motor, but the cast and build dates are perfect for the car. #399. Thanks, for the response!
