    Engine Identification

I'm looking at a 1965 roadster with a non-orignal engine. The block casting number is 3858174 (I believe a 1966 327), the block date casting code is C106 (I believe means March 10, 1966) and the engine suffix code is CAR. I don't see a CAR suffix code in the Corvette statistics page I've been reviewing (rowleycorvette.com statistics page). I did not get these numbers myself, they were supplied by the seller, who isn't very knowledgeable. Could anyone be kind enough to confirm, or correct, what I believe mentioned above, and shed some light on what a CAR suffix is? I'm trying to determine what 327 the car has.
    Thanks, Ron

GM did not use 3-letter codes in any passenger car application during 1966. the only CAR I can find is '72 Chevelle monte carlo 350 CI engine.

Thanks, Bill. I've been looking since I posted this question and can't seem to make sense of it either. In addition to the 350, I also found the CAR suffix was used for a 305 in years circa what you've described. I called the seller (a friend of mine) and asked him to re-check the code tomorrow. I appreciate your response.
