Has anyone ever tried to restore a 58-62 rear deck lid emblem? Mine is pretty far gone - has some crazing & missing paint. Still, I wonder..... Thanks. Rick

Re: C-1 rear deck emblem
Roy's right, once it's crazed it's toast; toasted by the sun on this little unvented solar oven. The original color of the emblem will depend on the year car though. In your case (I am pretty sure you own a 1962) the color could be either gold or silver. NCRS might not agree with this yet, but if they dig a little deeper I think they will agree. Research I have done indicates that the use of gold or silver emblems in 1962 production was random with no pattern of use other than random. Check your "crazed" emblem to see if you can determine the original color. Don't mistake a now scorched "golden" look of an original silver emblem to be a gold emblem. Sometimes it's hard to tell.

Rick: The repros on the market now are of pretty good quality. I replaced the rear deck emblem on my '61 and only lost a point or two on judging.- Top
