1960 windshield-softtop leaking

Hi everyone,

I am having a problem with leaking between my windshield frame and the softop when it rains, especially hard. I had a new weatherstrip mounted to the softtop front frame and the clamps are fully tightened, yet it still leaks.
Is this a common problem and are there any know fixes or weatherstrip vendors whose product is especially effective.

What! are you crazy driving your Corvette in rain ( the nerve ) .OK just kidding, is it the early 60 if so they had soft sponge rubber weatherstripping 56 to early 60 and later used the second design which is the only one reproed . Usually the rubber gets hard or the soft top adjustment is not correct, hard to explain what is wrong but many do leak any way. I would just try checking the rubber and re just the hold downs .

A workable emergency solution is to start with a strip of electrical tape (vinyl) on the leading edge of the soft top. Then half lap the tape forward until you have a half lap on the glass. Does not look pretty, but it works and does not transfer adhesive or color to the glass or top. Work from the back forward so that the wind does not lift the tape. I never travel in my 60 without a minimum of two rolls of tape. Also works for leaks on the bottom of the windshield. Isn't this really why overpasses were invented?
