The engine with the numbers in the above subject line is what is in my 1965 Corvette, I don't think it is the correct block for a 1965 car as the book says that anyting with "3782870" is not correct for a 1965 application. Can anyone knowlagable on the subject give a rookie some advise? Thanks Doug

Re: 3782870/3109388/F02I3RE/E123 Help!!
Doug,
Looks like a 63 block (3109388), 327/340 HP (RE), assembled Febuary 13 1963 (F0213RE), the cast date is probably a B not E for Febuary 12 1963.- Top

Re: 3782870/3109388/F02I3RE/E123 Help!!
I guess I've lost my mind - what I read is an "870" casting on May 12, 1963 and assembled on Feb 13, 1963 for 63 # 9388. But I'd really LOVE to have the title of the "book" that says an "870 block" cannot be in a 1965..

Tite of Book
Loren, mabe I'm reading it wrong! page 82 para 5 of the NCRS 1965 Corvette Technical Information Manual & Judging guide states: (Tonawanda 3782870 Blocks) "Blocks that do not have the small square oil gallery plug a the front just forward fo the intake manifold or have a two digit year casting date code (64 or 65), indicate manufacture at Tonawanda New York, not Flint. This Casting is not correct for any 1965 application.- Top
