My 1967 427-435 coupe, vin no. 108 is a low mileage, low ownership car that I just bought in Sept. of '05. The previous owner claims it has never had any paint work since leaving the factory. He owned it from '75 to '05 and says nothing was done to it while he owned it. The car will be at its first show ever at the Indiana Regional in Auburn this May. I hope to get some input there on whether it has original paint or not. This is important because the car has no paint stripe on the hood or 427 emblems.According to Noland Adams' book "The Complete Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide-Vol.2" page 384 early production big block hoods did not have stripes or emblems. From all my inspections it appears to be origional paint though I am certainly no expert. Has anyone seen any other car like this? If so,what vin is it? Has anyone seen a 435 car (real one) with a vin earlier than 108. Let's get the discussion going on this subject. Thanks,Steve

Re: C-2 Stinger paint
Steve,
-------Am not sure what others will come up with but I have several pre-production pics of a maroon 67 big-block coupe and it has the stripes and the emblems. The only unusual thing about it is that the center caps on the rally wheels are 67 Buick Skylark (brushed finish and slightly taller hat) for some reason. Check the underside of the hood carefully and see if you can see any signs of hole patching in the 427 emblem area.........Bill S- Top

Re: C-2 Stinger paint
Many things could have happened in the first eight years of a cars life.
To minimize surprises, you might ask an experienced judge to take a look in advance of Auburn to help determine the originality of the hood any any other area you may be concerned about.

Re: C-2 Stinger paint
look for paint on any components that should have been added after the factory painted the car.
Under dash areas, suspension, look for wrong or different color bonding compound, screw holes in the bonding strips / fender areas?
Good Luck,
