      I believe that the outer two carbs are actuated by vacuum, and function just like vacuum secondaries on a 4-barrel carb. This would mean that the engine runs off the center carb at low speeds, and the outer carbs kick in only at high RPM and high load.

        Joe -

        The engines were hot-fired at the engine plant using natural gas, supplied through an adapter that attached to the carb pad.
