1969 BB 263 coil and bracket use

A while ago, I think Joe L. posted that the 263 coil was only available with that part number for assembly line use and that part number included the coil and mounting bracket as an assembly. The 263 coil alone was never released as a service part.

In addition, I have seen advertised a coil bracket for the 400 and 435 HP cars with one corner of the mounting bracket cut off for clearance with the 3x2 setup.

Now the dumb question! So did ALL the 263 coils come with the bracket cut for the 3x2 setup, or did they come with the standard 4bbl bracket and then some assembly line person had to remove all those brackets and replace them with the correct 3x2 bracket? I would think it was easier to ship all the 263 coils with the 3x2 type bracket.

If so, does that mean my L88 should have the 3x2 type bracket on the 263 coil?

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Mark,

Neither of my two 1971 LS-6 cars have the coil bracket that is cut off. They both have the original '263' coils.
