T.G.I.F..that means it's time for movie trivia....

loosen up class, got a good one, and some sudes to the first to get all answers correct.

Here's the scene. Takes place around 1970-71, a guy delivers a car to a garage somewhere in Arizona, and gets another car to take back to California, but he has to get to Frisco in 16 hrs. He eludes the locals and the state troopers in both Arizona and Nevada, reaching speeds upwards of 135 MPH. All of a sudden he gets a following because a D.J. picks up the police scanner and sends clues to the driver.

Name the Movie, the car & motor, why was it so important to get to Frisco in 16 hrs. and how did the movie end? One last question, who was the driver?

Movie: Vanishing Point Car: white 1970 Dodge Challenger Motor: 5 cars were used; 4 had the 440 (all 4-speed), and 1 had the 383 (auto) Why get in Frisco in 16 hr: because of a bet Movie ends with the guy running into 2 bulldozer blades (btw, the car used for this scene was a 67 Camaro) Name of the guy: Kowalsky

Great movie, George! One of my favorites!

      Now, continuing with the trivia...

...what was the name of the DJ? What actors played Kowalsky and the DJ? What was the make and color of the car that raced and was "killed" by Kowalsky? Finally, what was the license plate of the Challenger?

Re: Now, continuing with the trivia...

Pedro --- Let's see, .... name of DJ = Super Soul, played by Cleavon Little; Kawalski was played by Barry Newman.

Confession: I cheated, as I've never seen the movie (although I'm now tempted to rent it, thanks to you guys). Soon as I had the title, I checked www.imdb.com for the details, which didn't get into the licence plate on the Challenger.

        George --- ????

          I am impressed....

Can't recall the licence #, the guy who got killed driving a mustang? At first I thought it was the Jag w/the roll bar, but then I remember seeing him standing in the ditch shaking his fist at Kowalski. How 'bout the scene where Kowalski picks up the two gay hitchikers and then they try to roll him...ha ha ha..a snow ball in south florida had a better chance of survival than those two against Kowalski

                  That was a good movie.....

even a saw a bit of the skin on a biker gal. Good source for old time movies is the library.

Yeah, Pedro caught me off guard on that one. I bet he was watching Speedvision. Their car movies air on Saturdays, at 11:00 pm. Comming attaction, to be aired 4/1/00, "Little Fauss and Big Halsy". Redford & Pollard as motorcylce racers roaming the southwest. Lauren Hutton plays the female lead.

Test next Friday on this flick.

Pedro, send me your address, I'll send ya a can of brewsky.

Yeah, I was talking about the Jaguar! The driver survived, but the car was literally "killed"...

The hitchikers: great scene! Funny how fast they were kicked out of the car!

Pedro took the wind out of my sail, sooo.....

let's try another one. This one is easy and all the Gertol members should get it, if not, shame on you.

The best moonshine movie EVER, EVER made. Takes place in Ky. or Tenn. can't remember. Theme song was so popular, everybody was humming it.

Part of the lyrics: ....the Devil got the moonshine and the mountain boy that day...

Name the movie, name the sone, who played the lead role, who played the lead female role, type of car our main character was driving, engine, and HOW DID IT END?

                        This is an easy one.

Re: That was a good movie.....

Wow, my "alternative culture" ("useless knowledge"?) finally pays off! Unfortunately I don't have Speedvision, but I did watch that movie a 2-digit number of times. I remember the license plate because I used to play in a band, and the license was the name of one of our songs!

George, I'll send you my address, and wait for the brewsky! :-)

Thunder Road; Thunder Road; Robert Mitchum; don't know, I was too young to be interested in "older women", '50 Ford (briefly) followed by a '57 Ford with three deuces, crashed and burned. Who played the lead character's kid brother?

                              Isn't the internet wonderful?

I have never seen this movie, but doing a search using the part of the lyrics of the song I was able to find the movie! Anyways, that was cheating...
