In my opinion the grain is so wrong you can tell it's a repro from 10 feet away.

Lousy picture too. Real one's are a dime a dozen at Corvettes at Carlisle.

        Re-pop wheels...Why waste the money?

In the last few months these re-pop wheels have flooded Ebay, and in my oppinion, are a waste of money and time. I bought one and almost cried when I opened the package and pulled the wheel out. I didn't even have to see the wheel to know it was junk, I just stuck my hand in the box and felt it. It was said to be an "exact reproduction," haha, some joke there. For starters, the grain is wrong. The metal spoke thickness is also wrong, as it is too thick. On originals, there is also a SLIGHT bevel that takes off the sharp edges of the metal spokes, but it's not there on the re-pops. The chrome rings are also wrong, and nothing like original. Shall we move on to talk about the seems on the plastic rim too? Or maybe we could talk about the wrong weight of the wheel too. Nah, that's ok, I think you get my drift.
I'm sure I'm stepping on toes here, but if it saves someone $400 I guess I don't mind. Over all, just stay away from re-pop wheels. Why put junk on a $50,000++++ car? personally, I'd spend the money on a restored wheel or a NOS. Oh, along the lines of NOS wheels, because what you buy off ebay without personally seeing the wheel... NOS doesn't mean a perfect wheel.

Ok, I'm stepping off my soap box now, thanks for listening to me vent, it feels good.

          Isaac,
Thanks for venting! Its the kind of feedback I needed. Guess I will look for a better stock wheel at Carlisle as Patrick suggested. Sorry you got shafted on yours.

                  Naaaaaaaaaaaa

If I was attacking you, there would really be absolutely no doubt. I was just reading and ruminating on your steering wheel hobby. If there was an undetectable after market piece, you would need to seek a different vocation.
