Re: 1964 tires
Darrell, the worst radial made today is probably better than the best tire made in 1964. Saying that, you don't need to spend big dollars for tires.
Just select the manufacturer you want, whitewall or blackwall and the best size is probably P205/75R 15.

Re: 1964 tires
Darrell,
If you want "reproduction" tires for your 64 done in radials, I recommend Diamond Back for the supplier. I have radials from Diamond Back with wide white walls and they have done well. A couple of friends with Coker tires have had significant problems.
If you don't need/want "reproduction" tires just do as suggested, go to a local dealer and have 205 75 15s installed and drive on down the road.

Re: 1964 tires
Harry, it is generally accepted that radials with a speed rating of "H" or better are the most desireable tires for Corvettes, However, I have yet to find such tires in a 5/8" whitewall. It seems that all the speed-rated radials only come in blackwall. Does anyone have any info to the contrary?
Thanx!- Top

But why isn't there basically the same message for the other side, except it would read....."Message Deleted by Administrator", instead of just disappearing?- Top

Re: 1964 tires
Darrell,
I bought Michelin brand Harmony 205/75-15, blackwall tires and love them. Went on the NCRS Road Tour last Summer with my '64 Corvette convertible and they performed excellent, very smooth ride and quiet. They are only an "S" rated tire, but do handle great for a driver Corvette. If you are looking to have your car judged, go with an OEM manufactured tire like the General Ameri GS4 blackwall radial. Good Year also make a white wall radial in the 205/75-15 size but I don'think the 6/10" white wall width is correct.

You deleted your initial post, so I don't know what tires you have now, but if you're changing from bias-ply to radials, you'll need to have your front toe-in re-set, to zero-to-1/16" TOTAL toe-in. The rear should be re-set as well (to 1/32" per side, 1/16" total, split equally across the thrust centerline), but that can wait until your next 4-wheel alignment.- Top

Re: 1964 tires
Had to put blackwalls on my 63 last year. They are Michelin X Radial 205 75 15s. Took awhile to get used to the sight of the blackwalls. They handle great. Smooooooth... Eric
