    Need help identifying block

Car is 1969 build 11/28/69. Owner claims original engine. I suspect different. Block cast # is 3970010. Stamp pad has no vin number only V0108CKU. What can you tell from this.
    Thanks
    Ralph

Sounds like a service replacement 350 - What is the casting date?

forgot to include the4 machine assembly data(which you state is on the pad) since there wqn't a vin, i didn't bother to look up the suffix which woould tell you what the block was originaly iontalled in or over the counter. mike

The block is real dirty, rusty and the format does not fit the JM. It looks like A79. There is some round spots before and after.

              Re: Need help identifying block

V0108cku is referred to as the machine assembly data and CKU is the suffix which , if you have an old motor manual, will tell you what CKU was originally installed in. good luck, mike

CKU not CE block, After 60's suffix changed to 3 ltrs. on Camaros, Nova etc. Could also be a 73 0r 74 Nova or 76 Impala block All Th350 auto trans with HP at 170-185HP. Need to get a more definite read on dates.

Re: Need help identifying block - Thanks

Well, at this point it will have to be replaced with at least a Corvette block and then possibly become a driver. A lot cheaper. The rest of the car seams original, carb, intake, A/C, Alt, trans.
                      Thanks for all this information.
