C2 Oil Pressure - spin on adaptor?

I just converted from canister to spin-on on my stock 67 350 HP and OP is now running 60+ on 60 max gauge. It settles down to just under 60 when fully warmed up. Is this normal or is something else going on?
Info: pressure was running in the 30-60 range consistently over the last year with synthetic 15W50 at wide range of temp's fall into winter in mid-atlantic (only took out in 40+ and stored in heated garage that doesn't fall below 50). When I switched, I used Syn 10W30 & a PureOne PF35 (big) and am 99.9% that bypass is in correctly in same orientation as before. I checked w/friend who has had 35+ vettes & usually converts them after judging & he never had this issue. Have driven it twice since but... it's making me nervous. Another variable; I pulled the clock & blew the instr fuse during that time.

    Any thoughts & Thanks,
    Bob

Many years ago, I did try the spin-on adapter, it was transparent to the oil pressure, you may want to reinstall the canister to see if it corrects it, then you can look at other components.

    Regards.

I was hoping not to do that. My other thought was to try another spin on. I have never encountered this in years and use the same stuff on all of my cars including a worked 455 Olds, but there is always a first. I drove it today on a 70' day just to see if that made a difference & same. I was gambling on high being better than low ; )
      Thanks,
      Bob

When you removed the aluminum section ( two bolts) from the engine block to add spin on filter, in the original adapter notice the little round pressure spring thingeeeee ?? With out that section you have more PSI.

If I understand it correctly, the by-pass plate has a spring loaded "valve" that I fully cleaned and pressed on to check. It is supposed to open and allow oil flow if filter is clogged etc. (dramatic pressure difference). It is a part of the BP plate though.

I was searching the archives and reviewing some threads on gauge lines and was wondering if I did something when up in under there getting clock out. I just went out & inspected for any kinks but really don't think so...

          Thanks again,
          Bob
