    57 gas tank cover

I have an early 800 S.N. Powerglide 57 fuel car with a power top, which I am in the process of disassembling. I noticed that on the gas tank compartment cover on the passenger side at the front there are 2 threaded holes. Underneath is a plate with 2 nuts. The plate is rivited to the cover. What was the purpose of these 2 attachment points? I have heard that 56 power tops had some switches in this area. My car has the long lever with the switches at the lower door jam next to the seat as described for 57s.
    All info will be appreciated.

Because your;s is a early 57 you have a left over 56 power top cover, your right it's for the PT frame switch. Your problem will always be a head ache with NCRS because you have a early vett, same with any late vett
