    '65 ? '66 ? Hardtop Plexiglas date coding

So what have I got ? As I understand the coding, for the 1965 model year, "E" (upper right) = month of May. And "E" (lower left) = calendar year 1965. Yet the interior headliner is the padded vinyl style of 1966 model hardtops. In a RESTORER article by John Smart, Spring 1993, the thinking then was that the date codes switched places around July 1965, with the month lower-left and the year upper-right, and remained so through 1967. Has this been validated ? It's on a late 65 car, but the top is not the original.

    Wayne,
My March, '65 has the original hardtop with the rear window date coded with an "A" in upper right for Jan. and an "E" in lower left for 1965.
