    C2 64 battery cable strap

This should be a simple one. I've had two 64's, one with the original battery retainer/shield and now have a repro on the new car. On both the hole for the positive cable plastic strap will not hold the strap. I'm under the assumption that you should just press one side of the lug end into the hole but maybe this is not right. Am I supposed to cut one of the rings off to go on the inside? Or is the strap to loop around to both the inside and outside surface(would make it difficult to get the cable in)? I'm confused...maybe dumb.

If I remember correctly, you have it right with your initial guess. The strap loops around the cable and then one end of the lug gets jammed into the hole on the battery retainer. My 64 didn't fit well either. I think mine was an extremely tight fit but I eventually snapped it into place. Is yours too tight or too lose?

Never could get mine to stay in either. A dab of super glue works for me. A little tug and it comes right out when needed.
