Since they advertise big time in the Restorer, I was thinking of ordering a rebuilt #202 coil from them. They don't seem to have a website. The prices are OK, I guess. Are they reliable and easy to deal with? Thanks PT

OK, checked the archives, the opinions there seem to be unanimous. Thanks PT- Top

Re: Goat Hill Classics...
Patrick,
From what I've heard the best approach to take with Goat Hill Classics is to purchase an existing item at a show and not simply give them money based on a promise of a item that they'll send when they get back to their home base. Trade cash for the real part at the same time and place.

Re: Goat Hill Classics...
Don, no rush, but if you drive by his shop. I need the backing plate for a 1963 608 water pump. I'm restoring my pump and the rear plate is very rusted. The rear plate on a 63 is perfectly flat (no ridges, bumps or lumps). I'll send an email with my email address.
Thanks

Re: Goat Hill Classics...
Patrick,
Check out Corvette Specialties of Maryland, who I believe is right in your backyard... His aren't rebuilt 202's (his are repop - GM Restoration Part) but they work well and go through judging OK, at least it did on my car if that's the route you're taking...
Later...

Re: Goat Hill Classics...
My two cents worth.
I ordered a coil from them end of January, via phone. Sent my check in as per their instructions. My check was cashed latter half of February. It is the 13th of March still no coil and still no acknowledgement/shipping notice.
I ordered the same coil from another source; paid 1/3 less and have it already.- Top

Re: Goat Hill Classics...
I'm with Gary on this.I paid for a 326 water pump that took me six months to get from Paul at Goat Hill. If he has it at a show buy it there. It is not worth the hassle of long distance phone tag with this guy. He has the product but his follow up or lack there of is legendary.- Top

Re: Goat Hill Classics...
I know this is not a technical post but since we don't have a club discussion board other than this one, here goes...
Why do we still allow members with a persistent history of dissatisfied customers to continue to advertise in the Driveline?
A similar organization to the NCRS of which I am a 25 year member (the ALPCA - Automobile License Plate Collectors Association) has a policy that transactions between members must be satisfactory to both parties. If a member repeatedly engages in unsatisfactory transactions, as Goat Hill appears to, then they are warned and given an opportunity to resolve outstanding complaints. If problems persist, they are eventually expelled from the club. This final action is not taken lightly and happens infrequently; only 10 or so members out of over 10,000 have been expelled over the 52 year history of the club. However, the hammer is there, and it both encourages members to behave ethically and also serves to build a feeling of comraderie and trust between the members.
I am not suggesting that explusion is necessary or desirable within the framework of the NCRS. However, a simple revocation of the privilige of advertising in the Driveline until all outstanding complaints are resolved might be in order. After all, the Driveline is a publication by club members for club members; it is not a commercial publication that is forced to accept advertising from 3rd parties.

Re: Goat Hill Classics...
Patrick,
If your looking for a 202 coil why not keep checking ebay? I purchased one for my 67 in the old pull string box unopened for about the same money. They show up all the time.- Top
