would like to know the proper way to clean an aluminum intake manifold. not sure if I could bead blast with 170-320 beads, or it should be cleaned up with a high preassure washer with an industrial type soap.any response would be helpful. Henry #38383
There are restoration companies out there that can make it look brand new. I used strong degreaser and painted mine with engine spray paint (aluminum).
I have heard bead blasting is the way to go, but haven't tried it on aluminum yet.
If your goal is to NCRS restore the intake, DO NOT BEAD BLAST IT! You will end up having to later pay someone to "reskin" it. You can safely use aluminum wheel cleaner or aluminum safe aircraft paint stripper.
