The Vette Vues Fact Book on pg 308 says base engines get a 37A and Hi-perf a 42A. Is HI-perf here a reference to big blocks. My 64 FI 375 HP has a 37A dated 3L6 or 11/6/63 for a car built 11/20/63 and I've assumed it was correct...but maybe it isn't. What is correct?

Re: C2 Altenator Amps
My 67 BB 390H (L36)has a 37A, it also has PW. I believe "Hi-Perf" refers to those with A/C or 400hp / 435 hp. My block says "Hi Per" cast into the block.
It has the correct cast part number for my block also.
Do you have the judging manual?
I hope that helps?

Re: C2 Altenator Amps
Larry,
While a 64 FI engine, or any other engine for that year, would have had a standard 37A alternator, the same engine with the optional transistor ignition would originally have had a 42A alternator. The same is true for any 64-67 with TI.
Air conditioning equipped cars also would have required a higher amp alternator.- Top

Re: C2 Altenator Amps
I think you should have (assuming no TI, because your car is too early for it) alternatory p/n 1100668 with stampings of 12V NEG and 37A and a date of 3L6...that is a 2 week window to car assembly, perfect...also with FI you should have the big pulley and Idler.Dino Lanno- Top
