After 40 yrs my 66 headlight motors are still going strong but I've noticed one closes/opens a little slower than the other. I dug thru the archives and found a wonderful pictorial step by step process on how to clean these headlight motors. Thanks to those on this forum for the tips on removal.. The mirror was a great help with my hood off and a lttle tugging and wiggling managed to slide them off.
As per Judging guide TIM page #106, a white plastic bushing is used in the hole next to the stud..... upon first inspection I noticed an angled split in one of these white bushings and thought it needed to be replaced. I checked Corvette Central and notice that they sell black ones but they also have a slit in the bushing. So I pulled both of my white bushings off and both have what appears to be intentional angled slits on my factory bushings. I'm now assuming they are both OK and were made this way........if not does anyone know where to buy two new WHITE bushings like my originals..........cheers......
