Has anyone compiled a database of dealer and zone code numbers? I notice people often ask for this information on the board and It seems to me that if this data was accumulated somewhere it might be fairly easy to enter it into a database and create a user interface to allow searches on that data. Certainly all of the people who know who their original dealer and zone number could provide a good starting place. If something like this already exists, please point me to it and disregard my rambling. Thanks, Shane

Re: Dealer and Zone number Database
Triple A, the window sticker people, have a tremendous database of zone and dealer numbers. I know that Terry McManmon, our new editor (excellent job, Terry!) has this on his agenda. I also know that Terry is extremely busy with his new job/responsibilities. NCRS has/had some information that Terry inherited from John Amgwert. I don't know the status of the project, but I have a few zone and dealer numbers that I would be glad to contribute. Chuck1963 Corvette Conv. 327/360 NCRS Top Flight

Re: Dealer and Zone number Database
Chuck, while searching the archives a few months back, I came across a post from an NCRS officer, (can't remember who) that had contacted a guy from the NICB in Atlanta, and was trying to work out an agreement with the NICB, where the NCRS could obtain a small amount (200 or so) reports of information a year on the St. Louis shipping documents for a small fee each. Also he accidently slipped out the NICB phone # here on the board, and everyone was suddenly calling them for information on their cars, which really torqued them up. Do you recall this post and if so, did anything ever become of it ? Patrick- Top

Re: Dealer and Zone number Database
Shane,
I have been accumulating this data for the last 2 or 3 months. So far I have about 2 dozen entries, and about half a dozen unfulfilled requests on file. I have not yet got to the material John Amgwert gathered in the mid '90s. I do have several Zone lists from the late '70s and early '80s that I have accumulated over the years as well.
There was a story on Zone numbers in The Restorer, Spring 1995 - you might want to check that out, but it had no dealer numbers.
Patrick's recollection is good, but the NCRS official (Vinnie Peters) received no response from the NICB. Given that they make their money from providing information to police organizations, it might be a stretch to ask them to give up their data base to us. On the other hand there was nothing to loose by asking.

Re: Dealer and Zone number Database
Please remember that Chevrolet periodically revises/reorganizes its zones and when they do a lot of things change, including dealer numbers, regardless of whether or not the dealership has not changed hands, etc.- Top
