    NEED A 1966 A/C EXPERT!

BUBBA GOT A HOLD OF THIS TOO......have replaced :compressor,condenser,receiver/dehydrator(had A/C up & running but seems to have had a leak in a hose where the A/C belt rubbed...replaced A/C belt w/proper one).Seems that BUBBA replaced the muffler Asm. & hoses with a 69' or later one piece asm. plus the STV seems to be a 67 type POA.I want to replace the hose cluster, expansion valve & the POA back to a STV but not sure if this is the way to go....meaning, is there a better system or configuration for the 66?(would like to keep it as original as possible).NEED AN EXPERT'S OPINION on the matter B4 I proceed.Thanks.......

    Bob,
    I'm not expert but offer the following. I have a 66 w C60

The POA valve from 67 is supposed to be more reliable than STV which is known to stick. If its a driver you may want to consider the POA.

Heater hoses run close behind AC belt under clutch so not sure what freon hose was rubbing.

If you have a small block, hood prop should be on drivers side.

thanks Randy.......it is a small block, very early production (9/65) so the hood prop is on the passenger side.About the heater hoses, seems they run down in front of the a/c compressor through a clamp(which is missing) that is bolted somewhere to the compressor & the compressor bracket(brackets all seem to be correct).I ordered the clamp from LI corvettes but it does not seem to match any bolt pattern to install it ( have checked out AIM...a little confusing)....any ideas??
About the rub....a/c hoses run above the compressor along the fender to the rec/dryer & condenser....with the a/c belt being to long...hence the rub....actually, I'm working with Quanta and they are trying to match up the right a/c belt.......we have tried 3 belts so far....any ideas?........Bob

        Bob

The heater hose clip bolts to the lower LH corner of the compressor flange under the clutch then down at an angle to another hole that is now covered by the heater hoses. Both hoses pass thru the clip. The clip runs from 10 o'clock to 4 o'clock as you face the compressor clutch.

The belt is Paragon 1402W (WO PS) GM#3847705 57.5" or 1401W (with PS)3880858 58". Paragon furnished Quanta belt so they should fit unless Bubba changed a pulley too.
