After reading many threaded messages reguarding C2 steering box lube Im rather confused. In a friend's (MOF) shop manual it says "do NOT to use EP chassis lube" , but to use GM 1051052 in which Joe Lucia gave , I think , the new GM number. In the threaded messages it also says to use 14.5 oz where the shop manual specifys 13 oz . HELP !!! I filled the box with synthetic moly EP grease , what should I do ?

You'll have hard time finding any GM #1051052----it was discontinued in August, 1978. It was replaced by GM #1052182. That's been discontinued, too, and I don't know if there's a supercessive part number, or not. No matter; neither of these lubricants was EVER the correct one for a Corvette. These lubricants are the correct ones, though, for OTHER GM manual steering boxes but not Corvette.
Corvettes use a "heavy duty" lubricant which was GM #1052084 until May, 1997. At that time the GM #1052084 was discontinued and replaced by GM #12377985. The latter is a high quality, multi-purpose EP lubricant. That's the one I recommend you use for any 63-82 Corvette application. It may also work fine for 53-62 applications, too.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
