    C2:67 The Jack

Thanks to Glorie Mc Nay for writng "rust, rust, rust" on my score sheet for the 67 jack and compartment. So I decided to correct the situation, here's the jack:

If you take a look at the jack handle, there is a bolt in place of a rivet in the handle. Does anyone know where I can get a rivet to put back, or post a picture of that rivet connection. (I know I can buy a new handle for $26, but this is an original) The jack has a 7 E on it, and I know it is supposed to be painted gloss black. Any tips out there.

It sure gets tough when work and taxes interfere with your Corvette projects, this time of year.

The rivit looks very similar to the rivit that is sold to hold front end ball joints. I replaced mine with that rivit because mine was missing also. I look at a few originals and felt it was really close enough

      Jerry,

Every original handle I've seen just had a piece of mild steel rod that was peened on both ends. You could call it a rivet, but there wasn't a machine "head" on either end.

Maybe those were just makeshift replacements, but I'd say not.
