I've tried the Archives with no luck. Can anyone tell me where to locate, and how to accurately decode, the date codes on 1968 Corvette speedometers and tachometers ? Does the 1-3 month prior to build date rule also apply to the speedometer/tachometer ?

Re: 1968 Speedometer/Tachometer Date Code
The 1-6 month rule applies......
I can't speak for 68, but on a 67 the actual date is stamped on the back of the assembled instrument cluster housing. No dates on the speedo or tach itself. See no reason why that system would change for 68...... There is also a tag that has part #'s that indicate high rpm etc on the housing.- Top

Re: 1968 Speedometer/Tachometer Date Code
I think I still have a few with the date code on them. It was ink stamped and then there was a paper tag stuck on them. That all likes to come off over time and the back sides are typically a bit rusty from humidity. You can email me and I could probably send you a picture of a date code on a 68 spedo or tach. tfringo@aol.com
