In determining if the block is correct for my 1959 C1, I get conflicting build dates for the car vin #, depending upon whether I go to the ncrswi 'birthday calculator' or the build dates in the books. The calculator says it was built Sept. 2, 1958, but the books say it falls within last number built during October of 1958. That's a two-month spread, which is more accurate?
Birthday book or calcultor for C1 Which is right?

Re: Birthday book or calcultor for C1 Which is rig
Both Noland Adams' Corvette Restoration and Tech Guide and the NCRS spec guide by Amgwert list the build date as october 58, while the ncrswi web calculator gives it the September 2 58 date. The vin# is 535, with an aug build date for the engine. That's why I'm wondering which source is correct... Thanks to anyone who might shed light on this.

Re: Birthday book or calcultor for C1 Which is rig
Chevy's end of month production records indicate the first month of production in '59 (Sept) ended with # 409. Then, October ended with # 632. With your VIN being 535, it'd be a hard stretch of the imagination to believe a calculated birthday of 9/2!
PS end of month production numbers are listed in your copy of the NCRS Judging Guide.- Top
