    Ebay L-88 Engine

    Hey Guys!
    Any comments on Ebay# 8046320734. The claim to fame is a True L-88 engine. Why would anyone sell just an engine, why not buy a 67 conv and put it in there.Then take BJ and Big Bucks!!!!!!!!!!!

    Would imagine this has been purchased piece meal and assembled. One of our own illustrious contributors has a much rarer 69 427 Aluminum ZL-1 engine acquired in a similar manner.

    Won't say who, but it's "not for sale" if that gives you any clue..

      Tracy, isn't that ZL-1 engine for his own ZL-1 project?

          Max-----

          It's still got the Camaro waterpump on it (i.e. long leg), however it otherwise looks ok. The block casting date looks strange to me, though. I've not seen one with "indented" characters. However, it looks authentic.

          The strange thing is that the seller has provided a "jillion" pictures of the engine, including a bunch of the various casting numbers, dates, and marks. However, there is not a single photo of the engine pad. I wonder why he's so fascinated with providing photos of just about every "number" on the engine, but no photo of the engine pad, at all?

            Joe;
            Maybe it does not have one, such as a replacement motor(I don't mean a CE). Or as I think you suspect, maybe its originally a lower horsepower block built up as an L-88 and the number on the engine pad would give this away.
            Take care,

              I agre. If the seller had anything to show off on the ID pad, he definitely would have done so. My opinion? Just some L88 parts for sale, and there are a LOT more 67 L88 parts than there are 67 L88 cars for 67. Probably enough 67 cyl heads, intake manifolds and 3418 carburetors to build 50 engines but not enough real cars to put them in.
