    "825" Alternator Pictures ?

    Hi Everybody:

In my ongoing battle to convince the vendor that the alternator he provided is not a correct 825, ( Joe has assured me it isn't ), I have forwarded Joes information to him to no avail. I would appreciate any descriptions and photos, ( I would REALLY like a pic or two ), that I may forward to him in a "general consensus" confirmation of the NCRS acceptable configuration for this application. i.e. 400 hp AC.

As always I appreciate any assistance offered

Jerry, You mean that this guy won't give your money back? Is he a dealer or just an individual with a part? I bought a supposedly "correct alt." for my LT-1 from a dealer in florida. Didn't realize what I had until I had my car flight judged. It was a restamped ,wrong configuration casting. I paid 225$ for that stupid deal. I didn't send it back ( 1 year later) but I should have ! Since then I have seen MANY examples of that guys handy-work on the judging field. These people need more PUBLICITY, if you know what I mean. Venders like John Pirkle would send double your money back if it took that to satisfy you.He would be a great rep for you on this deal. He's certinly THE alt. expert in the NCRS.

      Hi Bob:

The vendor has sidestepped several times on the delivery alone, when I finally received the alternator it bore the proper numbers and , having never seen a correct 825 had nothing to compare it to. I looked at the JGs description and the BACK case was suspect. After sending Joe pics he not only confirmed the rear was incorrect but the front also. When I called the vendor it took almost a week to get a return call. When it came it was 11:45 PM, he woke me, (old Fart that I am I had retired about 11:00). He rattled off a few dozen numbers claiming to have a "photographic memory" yet admitting that the REAR case was incorrect, (sounds like his memory is running short of film),

I had already found a new home for my old alternator and installed his, it was restored/rebuilt and cleaner than mine. I asked for a price adjustment based on the fact that the rear case was incorrect. He said he would send me a correct rear but made no mention of any price adjustment. He e mailed pictures of a bunch of grungy alternators claiming all to be correct for 69, (four different case styles), of course I sent them along to Joe. He immediately replied, ( ya gotta love Joe ) that to the best of his knowledge only one was correct and that wasn't suitable for my application, and , in fact one was for a Oldsmobile.

The vendor was identified in a previous post and if he docent resolve this situation I will post his name and the circumstances of this sale and take FULL responsibility for any insuing action he may take, I'm not happy here !

        Jer,

I do not have a scanner or digital camera to try and help you here. But if you have the Chassis Service Manual for your '69 Corvette, there is a picture of a '69 Delcotron Alternator in the electrical section. It is not perfect but it will show you the configuration of the fins on the rear case. I hope that this helps.

            Re: "825" Front end...

            Thanks Rich & Bob:

I have a good reference photo of the rear it is the ever elusive front end no one seems to have. I thank all who responded both on Board and off and would still like a good front end shot.

              Re: "825" Front end...

Jerry: I just read your posting regarding the 825 alternator. After spending several years looking for the right 825 (I found two evntually, one is on my car the other I sold last year a Bloomington) I have reearched this quite thoroughly. I have an excellent article from the Michigan Chapter newsletter dated 1990 which shows the front case as well as the back cover of botha 69 and a 70. If you send me your fax number or a mailing address I will photocopy the piesce and send it to you. I will be removing my alternator to do some engine detailing next week and would be happy to photgraph it for you. I know this is an original part for a 69. Let me know what you want to do. Jeff

Jerry: I forgot to mention in response that I have several blank front halves that are exacltly like the originals and several rear cases for 70's. If you contact me I can arrange to send you one of the blank front covers for you to inspect. Contact me by email and we'll arrange the details. Jeff
