    Possible 57 4Spd find

I will be looking at a steel case T10 on monday. I know what to look for on the top left side of the case W-----. What I need is part numbers on the side plate, main case and rear case. This might be a 3Spd conversion to a 4Spd. I've read about these conversions but have never seen one. If so what part numbers would I be looking for on the abvove mentioned parts of the trans of the conversion. Joe L where are you.

Ed, here goes as best I can recall:
Main Case - Cast T10-1, reverse idler hole is 1 23/64 inches, T10-1B are larger, drain plug boss is round on bottom of case, assembly code is stamped on upper rear boss surface the side plate bolts to. No cast date earlier than mid March.
Tail Shaft - Cast T10-7, SPAC letters are all cast together but squares around each letter are visible, a cast date prior to April 1st would be suspect, normal cast dates are around April 15th.
Side Cover - Cast T10-148, no re-enforcing gussets around shifter shafts which makes the outside of the side cover smooth except for shift shaft protrusions, Cast T10-148 inside, alot of '57 side covers are welded around shafts as they were prone to crack under speed shifting.
Hope this helps. Good luck, Gary....

Thanks Gary, that is what I was looking for. Keep your fingers crossed, these puppys are as rare as whale poop on a beach.
